Wouldn’t Jesus Support Free Healthcare?

by George on January 24, 2011

Jesus would be in favor of universal healthcare
Believe it or not, some Christians find this protest sign objectionable.

Imagine my surprise.

Parody might be contrary to piety, but I think anyone offended by the message in this sign is missing the point.

The salient point is that Jesus Christ would be a proponent of universal health care. I mean, come-on – the guy healed blind people and lepers and never charged them a shekel. Not only that, he persistently argued on behalf of the poor.

It’s really hard to picture the Savior as some sort of free-market capitalist being supportive of a for-profit healthcare system. If you disagree, please explain – I’m dying to hear what you have to say.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
