Is Greed to Income Inequality as Humping is to Pornography?

by George on March 18, 2011

Greed seems a lot like pornography; it’s hard to quantify it, but you always seem to know it when you see it.

Believe it or not, the top 400 income earners in the United States make more money that the rest of our wage earners combined.

Let that sink in … 400 income earners in the U.S. make more money than the rest of the other 150-odd million wage earners. Small wonder the rate of our income inequality has gotten so … so … perverse.

Is the aggregation of such wealth into such a small section of the population indicative of good public policy and fair taxation? Of course not.

Our income inequality is a consequence of powerful people purchasing the influence necessary to get legislation passed that favors their ambitions.

Unfortunately, however benignly intended, income inequality as extreme as ours is a consequence one thing: greed.
